Russia born, Yuriy Gavrilenko, is a New York-based visual artist, book publisher, filmmaker and founder of the Red Shift film festival in New York City. Yuriy started his carеer as a visual artist in Moscow where he also co-founded the "Album" publishing house. Following his show at the EXPO Chicago of Contemporary & Modern Art, Yuriy moved to the States in the mid 90's.
From the the late 90's on, Yuriy directed, produced and shot several documentaries - "New York Tusovka", "20 Cans of Chunky Beef Soup", "Friends My Ass", “Public Figure”, “Bass Baritone”, "Schastlivchik" / "Lucky Man" - and created Red Shift Film Festival. The festival featured expat filmmakers from all over the world and quickly became an important part of the Manhattan film scene.
Lately, Yuriy has reconnected with his visual talent and produced numerous sculptures and illustration works.
Yuriy's last creation, “Heaven-Sent Collection” is a one of a kind edition of home decor ornaments. This collection is a balance of elegance, sensuality and refined femininity. Unique and elegantly timeless, it is made out of fine hand-blown Bohemian glass from Czech republic with sterling silver details.
